Bob's heathen holiday revelations

Hi everybody... I'm a little grumpy today. I have known for quite some time that my family isn't Christian and it has not bothered me...until now. As my Mommy was reading all the holiday posts in the Savannah Cat group on Facebook, I was peeking over her shoulder and realized that I am being deprived of a sacred cat appreciation ritual!

Every year at Christmas, all the Christians bring a tree into their homes for their kitties to climb. Then, they put jingly, blinky, dangly things ALL OVER the tree just so their kitties can knock them crashing to the floor. As if all that doesn't sound exciting enough, sometimes the kitties have to complete a special mission before they get to knock things off the tree. These special missions can vary in complexity. Some kitties have to hone in on their paw dexterity and open a door to get to the sacred tree. Others have to jump fences or conquer 'the stink.' Sadly, I will never know these pleasures that Christian kitties likely take for granted.

My life is pretty good compared to a lot of other kitties lives though. When I want a piece of chicken to snack on between meals, all I have to do is give kisses. I can have catnip anytime I want, except bedtime. Mommy makes me a new toy at least once a week and Daddy let's me chew on his tasty insoles. I guess I'm one happy heathen kitty after all! Happy holidays!

Cold Weather Kitty

Hi, everybody! Have you noticed that the heat is totally turned off outside? In the house there are several openings in the floor that blow really warm air. They are great! I like to lay on them when my paws are cold. Sometimes I even press my face against them if my nose is cold. My favorite way to keep warm though is to snuggle with Mommy or Daddy. Sometimes I can convince Mommy to stay in bed and extra hour and that makes me super duper happy.
Bob - F3 Savannah Cat
Sometimes Mommy has to get right out of bed and get ready for work though. That makes me very grumpy. Sometimes when I'm napping with Daddy, he thinks our nap is over before I do. That makes me grumpy too.
"Please stay in bed" says Bob
I always forgive them though. They need me too much to stay upset with them...especially Mommy. For example, I know how much she likes to beat Daddy at Scrabble so I do my best to help her pick the winning letters. Then I put my toys in Daddy's slippers so he knows that I love him too.

They did it again!

Hi, everyone. Can you believe my parents left me AGAIN!? I do not understand. All I hear from them is -

"You're our handsome boy"
"You're the smartest kitty ever"
"We love you"
"Get off there, you little butthole"

Why on Earth would they ever want to leave a cat as fantastic as me? Just look at me. Fortunately, Uncle Ian always senses when they have run off. He comes over, feeds me, and gives me snuggles when I'm in distress.

I get really frustrated with myself when Mommy and Daddy come home. I had decided to ignore them for a few days, if they ever returned. As soon they got in the house though, I caved in and started giving them kisses.

Adoption Day - One Year Anniversary

Bob in mid-pounce!
Hi there, everybody! Today is a special day for my family. One year ago today, I adopted my Mommy & Daddy! I don't remember a lot about that day, other than lots and lots of riding in the car from Auntie Pam's house to my new home. She gave me my special Pooh blanket and I still take it with me when I go on car rides.

I was a little bit scared when I first got to my new home because there are no other kitties here. No dogs or anyone else with four legs either. It didn't take me long to realize how awesome it is being the only kitty though.

All the toys are mine and I don't have to share them! I never have to wait my turn to sit on anyone's lap. All the perfect nap spots are mine! I don't have to share Mommy & Daddy with anyone. Yup, it's a pretty good life I have here.

Mommy and Daddy left me!

Bob lecturing his parents.
Hi everybody! You are not going to believe what my parents did to me. They abandoned me! It was horrible. I don't know how to tell time but I think they were gone for about fifty years.

If it wasn't for Uncle Ian and his small human that squeals, I surely would have died. They came over and fed me and played with me a few times. I'm not sure how they knew I was in distress...maybe they saw Mommy and Daddy escape.

I gave them a very stern lecture and have kept a close eye on them since their return. They don't seem to understand that I can only protect them from bugs and other scary stuff if they stay in the house. It has been a bit of a challenge getting them back in their routines as well but I sure am glad they are home. It's getting too chilly at night to sleep without my Mommy.

Snuggle Season Approaches

Savannah Cat Bob & his Mommy
Hi everyone! Thanks for reading my blog. Everything is going pretty good for me lately but I'm a little worried about my Mommy. I think she might be shrinking.

A few nights ago while I was guarding the neighborhood from the lookout on the catio, it got really cold. It confused me because I thought cold-time was over. Hot-time is nice because the windows are open and the squirrels can hear me yell at them. It's not very comfortable to snuggle on laps during hot-time though. I've been settling for the next-to-lap-snuggle but it just isn't the same.

So, on this particularly chilly night, I jumped off my lookout and went to find Mommy's lap. It was just as warm and snuggly as I remembered! Her and Daddy gave me a bunch of kisses too, which made me pur! Then I tried to stretch out but I couldn't...not and stay on Mommy's lap. I had to curl myself up into a tight little ball to fit on her lap. I know her lap was big enough for me to stretch out during the last cold-time. This is why I am worried that she may be shrinking.

Luckily, we figured out a way for most of me to be on her lap while the rest of me lays on a pillow next to her.

A Cat's Work Is Never Done

Bob sees all.
Hey there! Sorry I haven't blogged much lately. Now that I'm a grown-up cat, I have more responsibilities that take up most of my time. In addition to being cute and protecting our home from squirrels, I've started assisting Mommy with her new job.

I really wish I could tell you what it is that Mommy does but I just don't get it. She still needs me to supervise though. If you can tell what is going on here, would you please explain it to me? I make my appearance at the 2:07 mark.

Don't worry. I tasted the plaster and tested the stickiness of the tape and the sharpness of the scissors before anyone used them on Mommy. I almost lost a few whiskers but we both got through it ok.

After a long days work though, I really enjoy lounging on my Catio that I got for my Birthday. Lately though, these cats have been coming around and bothering me. They are all black with a white stripe down their backs and they smell awful. They must not bathe...ever. Disgusting! I groom myself as often as possible and never smell bad...unless I fart. I hope my parents don't let any of those smelly cats in the house because I am not sharing my toys with them.

Happy Birthday Bob!

Savannah Cat Bob on his Birthday Catio
Hi everybody! Did you know this is a special day? I didn't. It started like most Sundays at our house. We slept in a little. Then, when I saw Mommy starting to wake up, I laid across her face to make it easier for her to kiss my belly. After she was up and in her wheelchair, we played Peek-a-Boo and then I got on her wheelchair with her and snapped her headband a couple times. She loves these fun games I think of.

Then, without warning, Mommy and Daddy both started singing to me. I thought my ears were going to bleed but I tried not to let on so I wouldn't hurt their feelings because they sure seemed happy about it. Turns out, today is my very first Birthday! That means I'm one year old.

I got my Birthday surprise a little early but I am still accepting presents. For my big Birthday surprise, my Uncle Bob, Aunt Iris, Uncle Ian, Mommy, Daddy and my big sister Nicole all worked together and made me a Catio! I love it! They are the best! When I sit on top of my big kitty tree, I can see the whole neighborhood. Mommy says I'm going to win the Mrs. Kravits award. I can't wait!
Baby Bob
It's been a pretty fun Birthday so far. Although, I don't think it's right that I had to get a Time-Out just for trying to help Daddy with some home improvement projects. I think my paws would work way better than those silly paint brushes he uses.

Savannah Cat Bob has a case of the grumpies!

Hi everybody! I'm really grumpy today. Riding in the car doesn't really bother me as long as I'm in my crate with my Pooh blanket from Auntie Pam, and Mommy is sitting next to me. Sometimes I'll ask where we're going or if we're there yet but I don't ever get upset, cry, or go peepee on myself.

This morning, Mommy told me it was mani/pedi day so I knew we were going to go "bye-bye in the car," as Daddy says. Everything was business as usual until we pulled out of the driveway and Daddy didn't even seem to notice that Mommy wasn't with us! I immediately panicked!

He said that she had work to do and had to stay home. They never asked me if I was agreeable to this. I was outraged and demanded that I be allowed to call Mommy on the phone! As soon as I heard her voice, and she promised she'd never make me ride in a car without her again, I was able to calm down and stop screaming. My mani/pedi went pretty smooth. I didn't speak to Daddy the whole way home though, just so he knew I was still upset.

I'm going to take a nap now in my new bed and start this day over.

Savannah Cat Bob plays carefully with his fragile Mommy.

Hi everybody! I learned something this week that made me sad. Some people think Savannah Cats like me are mean and dangerous and should not be allowed to live in homes with our humans. I know I'm kind of clumsy and fall down a lot but I only hurt myself when I do that. I love to pounce and wrestle too but I never do that with Mommy because she is small and can get hurt really easily. Instead, we play other games.  My current favorite game to play with Mommy is Bubbles!!!

Purrrrrty please share my blog with all your friends so they can see that humans and Savannah Cats belong together!

Savannah Cat Bob Tummy Troubles - Entry 233

Hi there, everybody!  Today is my 11 month birthday!  It's been a rough 11th month. First, I got that booboo on my head.  We never did figure out what it was but I'm glad it's all better. Mommy said I run into stuff so much, I probably knocked the fur right off!

Then, I had some tummy trouble. It wasn't because I ate anything bad. I just...I just do not like change and when too many things change all at once, I get upset. You won't believe what my parents did! They got a new dining room set and got rid of the old one without even discussing it with me. I was already grumpy because they kept putting that sticky medicine on my head booboo. Plus, there has been a lot of loud and scary noises coming from the front porch. Mommy keeps saying that it's a surprise for me and I'm going to love it when it's done. I'm skeptical.

So, all this stress upset my tummy and I couldn't eat. Of course, that meant I had to go back to the Vet. This time the Vet let me hide under my Pooh blanket while he examined me. He's pretty nice. Then I got an X-ray and saw what was wrong with my tummy. I had really bad gas but it wasn't coming out. Lucky for me, Mommy knew exactly what to do!

She started giving me digestive enzymes and probiotics every day. She also gave me a funny massage on my face called, Reflexology. Within 24 hours, I farted a bunch and it sure felt good!

It took me a few days to get back to my regular routine but I feel great now. Mommy says I have to take my enzymes and probiotics forever to keep my tummy happy. Her and Daddy take them too.

Now I just have to wait and see what this surprise is...

Savannah Cat Bob Goes To The Vet - Entry 232

Hi, Everyone!  It's me Bob. Today has been just awful. I got a booboo on my head and Mommy made me go to the Vet.

I don't understand why I had to go because it didn't hurt until the Vet scraped it to see what it is. Mommy didn't even yell at him, like she did my old Vet who said I shouldn't eat raw chicken.

Now I have to put medicine on my booboo every day for a whole week! I don't know how long a week is but I but it's a long time. It better not mess up my fur or I'll be more mad! Mommy says that I'm getting a really big surprise soon and then I'll forget what a bad day this was. I wonder what my surprise is...

Savannah Cat Bob Grows Up - Entry 231

Bob C. Hash, F3 Savannah Cat @ 10 months old
Hi everyone!  It's me, Bob!  I'm 10 months old now and weigh 11 lbs. Most of my time these days is spent protecting our house and training my humans and  Mommy's human helpers.

Ever since the snow went away, there has been a lot of little creatures trying to get in our house.  Mommy says they are called "bugs." Sometimes one will get inside and I have to alert the humans immediately because it's my job. Should one of those sinister looking squirrels who taunt me ever gets in the house though, Mommy said I'm allowed to eat it. I pray to Bast daily for the opportunity to dismember just one...a kitty can dream...

Anyway, training my humans is coming along pretty good. Almost every time I give them
a command, they obey.  Mommy has been the easiest to train. When I want kisses from her, I just put my face in her mouth to make it easier for her to reach me. When I want her to rub my belly, all I have to do is lay on my back. I like it when she uses her back paws.

Bob & his bubbles
Homie was a little harder to train but we have made lots of progress.  He's a bigger human than Mommy and he can walk on his hind legs. The trick with training humans is consistency. Every time I poop, I tell Homie and he scoops it. Then I grab his leg and nibble him so he knows I am pleased. When I want him to blow bubbles for me so I can meow at them, all I have to do is knock the bubbles on the floor.
What's in your bag?
Mommy's human helpers are proving to be easier to train than I thought. Sometimes I like to reward them by putting my toys in their shoes or their bags.  Sometimes when I'm putting a toy in their bags, I see shiny stuff and then I take it. I can't help it but I am working on controlling these urges.

When I have free time, I like to play with my rubber duckies.

Sometimes I just need some privacy. I mean, I am almost a grown cat. When I need some time to myself, I like to hide in my Man Cave with my Pooh blanket.

Savannah Cat Super Genius - Entry 230

Belly rubs are very relaxing.
Hey there, everyone! I'm 8 1/2 months old now and I weigh 10lbs!  Mommy says I'm a big boy and a super genius because I learn new things everyday.

Last week, I learned how to lock the bathroom door. A few moments later, I learned that Mommy does not have a key for the bathroom door. We were both scared that I would have to live in the bathroom forever. Lucky for me, all my humans are really smart and they figured out how to save me.

Now that I'm a big boy, I had to learn a new way to get morning kisses from Mommy. You see, like me, my Mommy is a special breed. Savannah Cats are bigger and stronger than regular domestic cats but Mommy's breed of human is smaller and more fragile than regular domestic humans.
Help! She's tickling me!

I used to just walk up Mommy's stomach and lay on her face so she could give me morning kisses without getting up. Well, one day when I was walking up her stomach she made a noise...like, maybe that didn't feel very good on her stomach. So now, I just stand next to Mommy while she is laying in bed and then I gently roll on top of her...and put my face right in her mouth so she can give me morning kisses without getting up!
I'm a pro at cleaning toes!

Savannah Cat Learns Manners - Entry 229

Bob pretending his raw beef is actually squirrel.
Hi, Everyone! Sorry I don't have as much time to blog as I used to.  This world is such an unpredictable place that it is hard for me to focus.

In the past couple weeks, there have been some disturbing changes.

There is no more snow to bring in the house and put in the bathtub for me to play in.  I'm not sure where it all went but I suspect these foul creatures called "squirrels" had something to do with it because it disappeared as soon as they started running amok.  I do not trust them and yell at them at every opportunity.

Then, it rained a bunch and it all puddled up in the basement.  I thought this was fantastic!  Mommy did not agree.  After I played in the basement puddle, Mommy made me play in the sink with clean water.  I'm still confused about Mommy's obvious displeasure with that whole situation.  I enjoyed every minute of it!

Now I'm supposed to be learning MANNERS.  Apparently, that means I should not do anything that seems super duper fun.  I'm not allowed to slap humans on their butt when they are bending over.  I'm not allowed to climb up the inside or outside of a lady's skirt.  I'm not allowed to lick boobs or try to get inside a lady's shirt.  I love my Mommy but sometimes she is totally unreasonable.

Savannah Cat Jumps - Entry 228

Going up!
Hey, everybody!  Last week, I turned 7 months old and I almost weigh 9 lbs.  Now that I'm a big boy and can reach every inch of the house, I decided it's time to expand on the daily security services that I perform to keep my Mommy safe.

Mommy refers to my new security services as "The Bungholing Hour."  That must be a fancy term for hard work.  During this procedure, I must jump up on every surface in the house and check for safety hazards.  When I encounter objects on these surfaces, I must slap them at least three times.  If the object falls and breaks, then that clearly shows that the object was posing a safety hazard and needed to be destroyed before it fell on my Mommy.
Looks safe up here!

Savannah Cat Reflections - Entry 227

Hello, my friends.  There is something causing me a great deal of stress and I feel I must confide in someone.  It might as well be you...my faithful friends.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I do regular security checks to make sure Mommy and our home are safe at all times.  However, there is a cat who tries to get into our home through my water bowl on a daily basis. I admit, he is a rather handsome cat but still, his presence is not welcomed. Sometimes our disputes get rather heated and messy but thus far, I have prevented him from entering through this portal.

Savannah Cat Tunnel - Entry 226

Hey, everybody!  It's been a really fun weekend here at our house.  I made some new human friends and got to show off how high I can jump.  Then we made this fun video of me and Mommy playing with some of my favorite toys!

Savannah Cat Helps Out - Entry 225

Boy oh boy, this has been a really busy week!  I have to train a whole new herd of humans on how to take care of Mommy.  It isn't easy and sometimes I have to break the rules in order to do my job properly.

For example, I know there are counters and tables and other places that I'm not allowed but I have to jump up there to make sure the new humans are doing things right.  I have to take the first sip of Mommy's tea to make sure there is enough honey in it.  I have to thoroughly inspect the inside of the toilet to make sure they flushed it after Mommy uses it.  If they forget to flush it, then I have to bring them whatever Mommy left in there so that they never forget again.  I also do my best to taste all of their snacks to make sure they have high standards and don't try to feed Mommy junk food.

On top of all this extra work, I still have to make sure Mommy gets enough exercise and snuggles.  It isn't easy being a Helper Cat but it sure pays well!

Savannah Cat Scrabble - Entry 224

Hey there, Everybody! Sorry I haven't posted anything lately. I got neutered last week and I feel ok but...some things are a little confusing now. I still love my Mommy lots but, it's different now. I don't want to marry her anymore. I just want to snuggle and play with her. She says that's what neutering is for so I guess it worked.

Anyway, I learned a new game this week and it's super fun! It's called SCRABBLE and this is how it's played:

First, I lay on the board to warm it up while I help Mommy put her letters on the funny stick.
Then, I have to see how many letters I can swallow before Mommy gets them.
I never realized how competitive she is until now. She's really good at SCRABBLE too because I didn't get to swallow one letter! I think she almost pulled out my tonsils too!
After that, then we try to spell some words.  It's a pretty fun game. Now that you know how to play, give it a try!

Savannah Cat Henna - Entry 223

Hi, everybody!  Ya know, I have liked every human I have ever met but sometimes they are very hard to understand.  Mommy tells me all the time that I'm her handsome baby boy.  She also tells me that I'm blue but most of my fur looks grey to me.  Regardless, she thinks I'm handsome and that gets me lots of kisses so, don't tell her I'm not blue.

Anyway, yesterday Mommy said I gave her 100 grey hairs.  I was excited when she said this at first because I thought it would be really fun if we matched.  However, she did not seems nearly as happy as I did.

I thought I was doing a good job being her helper kitty yesterday but apparently I made a mistake.  You see, Mommy puts herbs in everything.  She puts them in my food and it makes it taste super yummy.  She puts them in her food and she even makes stuff to drink out of them.  She calls the herbs she drinks, tea.  Sometimes when she isn't looking, I sneak a few sips of her tea and I like it a lot.  Shh, don't tell on me!

Well, yesterday, I thought Mommy had lost her mind.  She mixed up a big bowl of herbs into a giant glop of mud.  Then she smeared it all over her head!  So, I took that as my cue to step in and remind her that herbs are for eating.

I jumped up on the table where she sat and I gulped down a mouthful of her herb mud. It did not taste very good at all. It also kind of made Mommy freak out. She called and emailed all her Herbalist friends to see if I was going to get sick.

Mommy must have known that I couldn't get that yukky taste out of my mouth because she let me eat a big pile of raw chicken and it did the trick. Then we took a catnap together and I never did get sick.

She said that herb mud on her head is called Henna and it is not intended to be eaten by kitties but it's not deadly. She said if I had eaten more of it though, I would have had a bad case of the poops. Next time she puts herb mud on her head, I have to stay in the bedroom and play with my toys.

Bob the Savannah Cat - Entry 022

Happy New Year everybody!  It's been a pretty good year so far.  got a bunch of new toys from Hyendry Comfurt Pet Products and I love them!  Here are some pictures of me and Mommy playing.
